So I've been playing NPPAngband a bunch recently.. and I've got a pretty good level 30 character now! Never played this far. I usually get careless and die.

My Friday the 13th

Last night at work was a special one. Pretty steady throughout the night and I ended up with 21 deliveries by 11:45pm. As I'm driving back to the store from #20 and #21, I get a call from Omar saying that I'm coming back to 5 deliveries. I was shocked and didn't believe him until I set foot into the store, and sure enough there were 5 deliveries waiting for me.

So I quickly pack up all the orders, including 6 2L bottles of pop (5 coke, and 1 sprite). Load them all into my car and make my way to Ranchlands. I do the delivery as quickly as possible and then down to Scenic Acres where I do the same. Off to Silver Springs for the first order. As I pull up to the house on 66 St, I notice no lights on and only one truck parked out front, which is strange since the order is $79.98, including 3 bottles of coke. Struggling with 3 large pizzas (In a regular sized pizza warming bag), 2 boxes of wings, a box of bread sticks (all 3 boxes in a smaller wing box warming bag), and 3 bottles of coke, I walk up to the door and ring the bell. About 30 seconds and one more doorbell ring later I hear a voice come from behind the door
"Hello? Who's there?"
"Your pizza is here."
A few more seconds pass and then the voice replies,
"Who's there?"
"Panago pizza, the pizza you ordered is here."
"I didn't order any pizza."
The door opens slowly and this old woman who is obviously terrified that someone is ringing her door bell at midnight tells me that I must have the wrong address. We both confirmed that the address I had was correct but that the phone number was wrong. I apologize for giving her a scare and go back to my car, still lugging around the entire order, and give the phone number a call. A man answers the phone who obviously just woke up and is furious that someone is phoning his house at midnight, and starts yelling at me for calling. Needless to say, he didn't order the pizza either.

So I call the store back and tell Billy that the first Silver Springs order was a prank, they should void the order, and that I'm on my way to the next one. I arrive in front of the house on Silverview Way about 45 seconds after I left the 66 St house. I pull out the single pizza and bottle of coke and walk up the steps to the front door. A note taped to the door says "Please go around back and knock. Baby is sleeping." So I lock my car doors with my alarm remote and head around to the back of the house. (At this point my car is running, doors are locked, and my front two windows are halfway down) I open the screen door a bit and knock on the window. A minute passes and no answer, so I knock again. A few more seconds pass by when I hear my car door open, so I instinctivly reach for my alarm remote and hold the panic button down, setting off my alarm as I'm running towards the front of the house. I see my back left door wide open and someone running down the street carrying a 2L bottle of sprite, a pizza warming bag, and a wing box warming bag. I run to my car and look to see if anyone else is still there and if anything else was taken. Nothing else was missing except for the first Silver Springs order.

I call the store back and let Omar know what just happened and tell him to call the Hamptons delivery and let them know their order will be late, but will be free when it gets there. And then I phone the police and let them know what just happened. A few minutes later a cruiser shows up at the Silverview Way house and I start filling out a statement while they drive around the area trying to find the person who took the bags. After a very very long wait at the house, and a bunch of questions later, I drive back to the store and finish my day. Omar said to me that it sounds like the Hamptons order might have also been a prank, very possibly made by the same people who placed the two Silver Springs orders. The woman that he woke up when he called the phone number on the Hamptons order said that she didn't order any pizza, but she lives in Silver Springs.

That's basically it. I'm very lucky that the pizza bags and pizza were the only things taken. They obviously reached over my window to unlock my doors and took the order, but could have easily taken anything else in my car... or even my car itself since it was running!

On the plus side, I made $90 in tips. So the night turned out to be pretty good, aside from this event and getting home at about 2:45am.
